Italian
Living in Trento and having a racing bike, it happened to me many times, especially at the beginning of the season, to train along the Adige cycle path which runs along the bottom of the valley and often, in summer, it happened to me to meet many cycling tourists, first of all German: the route is indeed ideal for those wanting to skip the traffic and is well linked to other routes that combined can make a trip by bike rather varied and interesting.
The Adige cycle path is the longest cycle path in the whole province and continues in the nearby provinces of Verona and Bolzano, being a perfect route for those who love the tranquility of pedaling with no effort and with good cultural-touristic alternatives along the way.
The route of the Valsugana Cycle Path stretches for about 80 km between the Trentino and Veneto region; from Pergine Valsugana, a few bike rides from Lake Caldonazzo, you get to Bassano del Grappa, in the province of Vicenza, after covering all the valley. This cycle path stretches almost entirely in the plains and right for this reason is a cycle-tourism route also suitable for families with children, in addition the Valsugana valley is entirely crossed by the railway line and regional trains can be a comfy alternative to cycling in case of tiredness or to go back to the starting point.
It is one of the most popular loop around mount Pasubio between Trentino and Veneto. One goes through Strada degli Eroi (heroes road) that was built to recover the bodies of fallen soldiers after WWI, and Strada degli Scarubbi. Between them there is the strada delle 52 gallerie (and gallerie in Italian stands for tunnels, so as you can understand it's rightly forbidden to MTB) that makes one relive the tragic conditions in which soldiers fought. Besides the history, also nature and alpine landscapes are good companions in this simple but pleasant excursion on mount Pasubio by mountain bike, fit for trekking lovers too.
Another mountain bike trail that gave us great views of Lake Garda and the northern basin of the Benaco. This path is intertwined with other trails we've already undertaken around Lake Garda, but introduces, for us, the novelty of Rocchetta pass. After the effort of the climb rewarded by breathtaking views, the descent leaning over Leano is just right for those who love speed.
A classical trail for MTB lovers, around Latemar by mountain bike, in Trentino-Alto Adige. The loop around Dolomite's group that stands between Val di Fiemme and high Ega valley is a path that is suitable for people with a little fit, if you use Latemar's lifts and becomes an experts tour if you intend to use only your own forces! The strengths of this route are the views from Pampeago and Costalunga passes in addition to the magnificent amphitheater of Carezza lake at the foot of the Latemar group.
