Modifying a GPS track can be useful for many reasons: merging routes found on the web to define an itinerary you want to travel, creating and viewing an altimetry of a specific route, reversing the direction of travel, splitting a trip by bike in more multiple stages, creating points of interest or even creating a track from scratch... well, the management possibilities of GPS files (whether GPX, KML or any other useful format) is, nowadays, wide and varied. Often though during my researches on the web I find it hard to find a complete overview of free programs to modify the GPS tracks therefore hereafter I grouped some programs that I recommend based on my experience.
The evolution of transports, the revolution of rubber and the resulting abandon of the railway lines, over the years has led to a transformation: some abandoned railways have been rehabilitated becoming paths for pedestrians and cyclists. Also in Italy this small change has had important results in the development and diffusion of cycling tourism: where there is a secure path for bicycles the curious and the travelers arrive and induced tourism grows... 
Nothing of what we wear in everydays' life is suitable to go mountain biking: from head to toe. Indeed, there is a specific mtb clothing evolved over the years to ensure comfort and safety. Each part of our body is stressed differently and requires special attentions, ranging from protection to agility: so much that it would be more appropriate to speak of equipment instead of clothing.
Choosing a tour MTB is not a simple thing: it requires time, patience and moments of introspection. A poorly through-out or rushed choice could make you miss this important and involving activity, and maybe discover to have wasted a lot of money. The first question that any good dealer will ask you is: “do you know yourself?” a question about your inclination, your cycling ability. Also evaluate the proportions of your passion: if it is something slowly maturing or if it is only a temporary infatuation. After this brief examination of conscience, let's clear up any commonplace: the saying “cheapest is dearest” in this case is not accurate. We take for granted that we are looking for a vehicle to be used, not a object to be shown.
I have to start by saying the saddle position, both on a mountain bike and on a road bike, is a serious matter that should be carefully considered especially by those who spend many hours in the saddle of their bikes. So there are many specialists who – through appropriate bio-mechanical analysis – can evaluate the best posture and also design a perfect bicycle fitted to your needs. Having said this, there are a lot of cyclists who maybe have just approached the mountain biking or who runs just a few hundred kilometers a year and then are not going to spend exorbitant sums to adjust their position in the saddle.
This brief article is addressed to this kind of passionate cyclist and tries to sum up briefly the steps to better adjust your seat in the saddle and avoid some boring consequences such as backaches, stiff neck, muscle pain every time you saddle up.
Contact with the ground, this is the main function of MTB tires: an appropriate choice will determine your safety and fun. But there are many characteristics which will define a right or wrong choice of a mountain bike tire. There are both subjective factors such as your approach to driving, and objective such as soil and bicycle type. About the firsts, no one could understand your needs better than yourself; instead about the objective factors we would like to make some broad considerations.
It is one of the most popular loop around mount Pasubio between Trentino and Veneto. One goes through Strada degli Eroi (heroes road) that was built to recover the bodies of fallen soldiers after WWI, and Strada degli Scarubbi. Between them there is the strada delle 52 gallerie (and gallerie in Italian stands for tunnels, so as you can understand it's rightly forbidden to MTB) that makes one relive the tragic conditions in which soldiers fought. Besides the history, also nature and alpine landscapes are good companions in this simple but pleasant excursion on mount Pasubio by mountain bike, fit for trekking lovers too.
I am recently endowed with a smartphone (thank you, Santa!) and between the first applications I tried there are the outdoor apps. In this article I will make an overview of the first impression about some of them (they all are rigorously free), positive and negative. I am not an expert, as you have guessed, but I own a GPS device for many years and I was curious to discover whether and how it could be integrated in a mobile telephone to track (or follow) paths. Then this is my judgment at present:
Another mountain bike trail that gave us great views of Lake Garda and the northern basin of the Benaco. This path is intertwined with other trails we've already undertaken around Lake Garda, but introduces, for us, the novelty of Rocchetta pass. After the effort of the climb rewarded by breathtaking views, the descent leaning over Leano is just right for those who love speed.
With this short article I will try to explain how you can create  a GPS track, directly on your PC, to upload on your device and then follow it during an excursion in selected locations. This could be especially handy if you have not been able to locate on-line tracks that meet your needs created by other users. In this way, you can draw a custom path, to study short cut or deviations from the main track and assess elevation gain and distances to fit our training. Expect always some unexpected and plan therefore an emergency alternative, especially if the area of interest is located high on the mountains. At the end of the article you will find a video tutorial (unluckly only in Italian) that shows you the steps to follow once you've loaded Google earth.
